Safer Streets and Communities

I will work collaboratively with law enforcement, community-based programs, the District Attorney’s office, Diversion Program and Problem Solving Courts to prevent crime, support victims, build trust between residents and first responders, and ensure certain individuals in the justice system receive the appropriate interventions when incarceration is not the best solution. This ultimately reduces recidivism and strengthens community safety.

Priorities:

  • Improve public safety

  • Crime prevention and emergency response collaboration with district attorney’s office

  • Working with law enforcement and youth to reduce gun violence

  • Build on our diversion programs

  • Work with the Arapahoe County Detention Center to increase access to transition resources and reducing recidivism

  • Increase access to behavioral health services in our criminal justice system by working to reduce recidivism and promote recovery
